1. Mary Warren is unwilling to testify against Abigail and the other girls because she is afraid of them. 2. Elizabeth Proctor pleads with her husband to confess and save his life. 3. Although Danforth believes that the girls are lying, he refuses to listen to any evidence against them. 4. As the play opens, Reverend Parris is praying for the salvation of his Black slave. 5. The people of the village accept most new ideas that Rev. Parris proposes. 6. When Mary changes her truthful testimony and denies that she is pretending, John Proctor shouts that God is dead and they will all burn together. 7. Elizabeth is not jealous of Abigail. 8. Rev. Parris wants John Proctor to confess to having an alliance with the Devil because Parris fears for his own life. 9. John Proctor at first admits to witchcraft and signs a confession. 10.
